If you are looking for a good dance party for inauguration week in DC, here you go. A queer dance party will take place outside of Vice President Elect Mike Pence’s home, and you can join the 300 already slated to join.
Washington’s DC forecast for Friday is 51 degrees with rain. So, take of your wet shirt and twerk for equality!
A Washington D.C. gay rights movement is organizing a “queer dance party” outside of the home of vice president-elect Mike Pence.
The event is a collaboration between WERK for Peace, “a grassroots movement using dance to promote peace” and DisruptJ20, a left-wing group that vows there will be “no peaceful transition” on inauguration week. 300 people are marked down as “going” on the event’s Facebook page, while over a thousand are interested in the event.
“The homo/transphobic Mike Pence has graciously invited us to shake our booties and bodies in front of/around his house in Chevy Chase,” the description on the Facebook event reads. “We plan on leaving behind [biodegradable] glitter and rainbow paraphinalia that he can NEVER forget.”
“That’s right, get ready to WERK it and tell Daddy Pence: homo/transphobia is not tolerated in our country…” the description continues. “Bring your flyest rainbow gear and your booty/body shaking skills!”
Russian state-controlled outlet RT is particularly miffed by the event, declaring that “an event billed as a ‘gay dance parade’ is being planned in an attempt to sabotage Donald Trump’s inauguration.”
