Velazco reports, “The Padzilla is their newest product, and it allows users to interact with their iPhones and iPads on a completely ridiculous scale… Better start saving your pennies though, because CrunchyLogistics CEO Neil Dufva says that buying a 70? rolling display like the one in the video would cost roughly between $30-40,000 (iPad included).”

The Pope has used Twitter for the very first time. To write his first tweet, he used an iPad and the official Twitter for iPad app. The tweet was to announce the launch of a new Vatican news portal. He also received a short demonstration of the news portal, again using the iPad. He did not seem to have any problem getting to grips with the iPad touch screen or the user interface.

He should avoid activating Grindr in the Vatican, though – the iPad might explode from overload. Now, if we could only get the church up to date on gays.

As many of you know, I am addicted to my iPad. And having recently downloaded the Atari Greatest App – which I love but it is difficult to truly replicate the experience without joysticks and real buttons.

The iCade will bring that experience several notches higher:

I found tearing through these classic games on the iCade to be everything I’d hoped it to be. On the whole, it’s just an awesome experience. Holding the stick in your hand, hearing the switches click open and shut, and mashing the fire buttons is absolutely the way these classic games were meant to be played. A proper stick in your hand beats a virtual D-pad every time.

Holy Hairy Hotness!

I rarely use Grindr. When I do, I like to see boys like this.

I am rarely seen without my Timbuktu bag – it’s the perfect size to carry my items back and forth to work, around San Francisco and while traveling. Here’s what I carry with me…

Timbuktu bag: I am a bag whore. I usually buy a new one every year and with my iPad have downsized to a bag just a bit larger than the device. I have also purchased (and love) Chrome bags. Both are tough and made in San Francisco. Being the OCD person that I am, I also appreciate pockets, compartments and other perks that both brands offer.

Apple iPad: Of course, you all realize how much I love my 32 Gig 3G/WiFi iPad. Use it all the time. But, I really LOVE my DodoCase. Handmade by book binders in San Francisco, the case is much like the note book I used to carry. I also have a stylus that I can use to take notes with UPad – which accepts my handwriting much like my former note book.

Then I have items that go with me from murse to murse: my reusable Thermos coffee mug (replete with chew marks from one of the dogs), my Bose headphones (now held together with duct tape but working great) and my ear buds. With rainy season upon us, a small umbrella is necessary as well as hand sanitizer and moisturizer (for my wrinkles). Finally, I always carry my reading glasses – which is about the only way I can read my iPhone these days.

The bag is also perfect for carrying that special bottle of wine to a dinner party…with that said, time to start getting ready for New Year’s Eve. Happy 2011 everyone!

What’s in YOUR murse?

On of my loves is aviation (I briefly took flying lessons 10 years ago) and we no longer see beautiful birds from Pan Am on approach. It’s a shame.

I’m enjoying the iPad’s Pulse news reader – an RSS-based user-friendly and VERY graphical interface that feels more like browsing in a bookstore than an iPad app. It’s highly customizable and easy to sort through clutter – prominent photos draw your eye to what you may be more interested in. ZDNet’s review is in sync with mine:

If you’re not familiar with this app already, you should be. Pulse News Reader (iTunes, $3.99) is a new RSS client for the iPad that displays your feeds in a simple grid configuration that scrolls horizontally and vertically.

Designed by two students at Stanford’s Institute of Design, the app has an intriguing backstory. It was approved for sale on the App Store, then the New York Times objected because its content was included among the default feeds and it was removed. The developers were surprised when the app magically re-appeared in time for Jobs keynote at WWDC where it was displayed during his parade of cool apps.

When the user selects any of the displayed photos, the story opens up. This is where the app looks more like a typical iPad RSS reader.

One problem – if you read a ton of  blogs per day (I read more than 200), this isn’t a great reader for high consumption. It is great, though, for blogs and media sites with which you want to spend more time. Share capabilities are great and easy-to-use. The only other user interface issue I found was when I wanted to leave a story I had read and I want to return to the home screen. My iPad instinct told me to swipe the Ryan Reynolds story right. However, you need to select the Rubik-cube looking button at the upper left. After several weeks of using the app, I still fumble when leaving a story.

Overall, a great app. Here’s my final rating:
