Chic Gay Honeymoon, Anyone?

While gay cruises and travel destinations have been available to LGBTs for years, the passage of same-sex marriage is driving a new “gay honeymoon” market. From ChicGayHoneymoon’s press release:

ChicGayHoneymoons.com, the first bespoke luxury travel company to focus on chic romantic getaways and sophisticated honeymoons for gay couples, launched its website today.

Gay marriage is now legal in nine U.S. states and Washington, D.C. and there is the strong possibility of national legalization, when the Supreme Court is expected to announce its decision in June. The history making company is the first gay and lesbian-owned company focusing specifically on vetted luxury and romantic travel products for the discerning gay traveler. Co-Founders Tom Stanley, former president of luxury tour operators Travcoa and Cox & Kings, The Americas, has joined forces with Laurie Wolfe, former creative director of Victoria’s Secret and former vice president of Home Shopping Network.

“We’re seeing dramatic changes in how gay marriages are being valued by Americans and by gay people themselves,” said Laurie Wolfe. “Before, there were quiet backyard ceremonies and an ‘invisibility’ to gay relationships. Now, gay people are marrying in churches and having destination weddings with their families, co-workers and friends.”

“We’re seeing a ‘normalization’ of gay relationships in the U.S.,” Tom Stanley said. “In many ways, gay people are seeking the grand traditions of ‘the wedding’ and ‘the honeymoon’ except we’re doing them in our own way.”

Part of the normalization is the experience gay couples will have when they check into hotels. ChicGayHoneymoons will ensure the awkwardness that many gay couples have experienced while traveling is eliminated. It will work with hotels to make certain its clients experience welcoming stays that “celebrate” their relationships.

“We’ve already received a warm reception and great support from the hotel industry, such as the Orient Express Group, which owns some of the world’s finest hotels including The Cipriani in Venice and Maroma in Mexico,” added Stanley.

ChicGayHoneymoons.com features more than 300 hotels and destinations in gay-friendly areas around the world with romantic packages at many hotels. All honeymoons and romantic destinations can be customized for the perfect romantic vacation for the couple. Sample destinations are:

Beach - St. Barths, Hawaii and Italy

Urban - New York, Buenos Aires and Sydney

Villas - Bali, France and Turks+Caicos

Exotic - India, Peru and Morocco

Nature - Canada, Colorado and South Africa

ChicGayHoneymoons will be adding another 100 properties and will have one of the most comprehensive collections available of destinations for gay honeymoons.

If you marry, will you and your spouse try out one of these gay honeymoons?
