Lovin’ the new Safari

Imagine that your browser works like iTunes – the new Safari 4.0 Public Beta is cool and fast.  Here’s the shot of my recent history.  You can also flip through all past pages like you do album art.  This is how an Apple browser should work!

The only oddity are the tabs on top of the browser bar (as opposed to just below as in the previous Safari and Firefox).

Download the new Safari.  You won’t be sorry!

The tabs over the top is a new trend that started in Google’s Chrome browser, which hasn’t been released for the Mac yet.

I agree with you, they are a bit of an oddity. They seem like an afterthought. Google actually designed their whole browser around the tabs, so it seems more elegant in Chrome than in Safari. Oh well, maybe they will improve it for the final release.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it, my little Mac convert ;)

Wow … I really like the new Safari. I agree with Nathan concerning the tabs … sort of just hanging up there. The ability to actually see your history is quite nice (but watch out for the internet porn).

Ok, I’ll bite and check it out. Jebus, though, so many fricking browsers – gonna drive web developers nuts. Actually, no, that role is still filled by IE

Well so far I’m sorry. ;) But I’ll play around with it more. You had me on “flipping past history like album art”. I didnt notice you could do that!

But I found it quite slow, and a total memory hog. And I miss the look of the old Safari.

I’m not a Mac, so I wonder if that’s why it didnt work as well as maybe it should have.
