Happy New Years!

Let’s hope your night doesn’t end up like that of these poor bastards … and now remember — no matter how drunk you get, there’s got to be a morning after…

Happy New Year’s!

DanNation Video CAST #6: 2006 – The Year that Was

2006 has been quite fabulous for me – a new relationship, a move, and new friends from the wonderful world of blogging. You will see a few of yourselves in this montage – which is a snapshot of everything that has happened this past year starting with my 40th birthday party.

Be safe, be kind, and have a wonderful New Year’s!

By the way, how many times did I actually have both my arms up in the air in 2006?

Inside my own head

Donnan and I have lived together for almost two months (the two-month anniversary will be on my birthday, January 3rd).  We are still trying to figure each other out.  Living together will challenge you to do so.

For example, two nights ago I told him that when his mother left yesterday, that last night would be a romantic night together for the first time in almost two weeks.  However, I blew it by deciding to switch my blog over to WordPress.  I spent the evening like a busy Sue Ann Nivens — cleaning up the house (it is quite dirty from all the houseguests and dried Christmas decorations); trying to fix my “new” blog; sipping wine; and watching the old Jack Paar show on DVD with Donnan.  So, it wasn’t romantic at all.  It challenges him to try to figure me out.  I feel badly that I get inside my own head sometimes — I guess I really needed that time to get caught up on stuff, especially with the entertaining over for the time being.  But, I feel badly that I let him down.  Relationships are that delicate balance between maintaining your self and fulfilling those needs with coopting to the needs and development of “the couple.”  While I don’t believe that successful relationships rely on a complete merger of two personalities, I do believe that responding to each other’s needs with our own individuality is important.  I guess that’s what I’m trying to do.  And, I need to communicate more effectively about what is going on inside my head.

 I’ll get there.

Two turtlenecks and a gay son in a pear tree…

I hope everyone had a terrific Christmas, Hannukah or whatever you celebrate. Today, the mother-in-law goes home. Tomorrow, the tree and decorations come down. And, with that we close 2006.

I had a great one, and despite three earthquakes and a wind storm that surpassed one would expect to see during the apocalypse, we survived. Today, I am back at work and catching up with my blog.

It is always humerous to me – the coming together of presents from many aspects of your life under a single and drying Christmas tree.

Donnan treated me right:

  • one 80 GB video I-Pod
  • one set of silk PJs with matching robe and slippers
  • various vintage TV DVDs including Jack Paar and Dick Cavett
  • one newfangled and advanced coffee maker (I still haven’t figured it out)
  • a Judy Garland book

…all great gifts indicative of two gay men in a relationship!

My mother never fails to amaze me – I predicted just about every present she sent me and she fulfilled my predictions:

  • a set of dish cloths featuring a matronly duck design
  • 4 pairs white athletic socks
  • 50% cotton/50% polyester boxers (I cannot wear these)
  • one pastel orange turtleneck and one pastel blue turtleneck (2 for 1 sale at WalMart?)
  • Knott’s Berry Farm jam

…all gifts indicative of a mom who has NO idea what to buy for a GAY son.

She also mentioned on the phone how FAT I looked in our Christmas card photo….THANKS, Gladys!

Well, I hope you all had a wonderful day with luvahs, family, and friends and gave and received presents, love, and friendship as we all should. And, I hope you survived your families!

Cute Boys on “The Price is Right”

My regular readers know how much I love “The Price is Right.” I am still going to try to head down to CBS in Los Angeles to see it before Bob Barker retires in June. So, here are some cute boys to stroke your yuletide pole who made it to stage on “The Price is Right.”
