BEFORE: The master bedroom in 2003, with the previous owners’ stuff in it.

AFTER: My nest today – all I need is a boy to share it with!
Nathan at Nathan Exposed encourages his fellow bloggers to expose themselves with photos of their homes. I’m taking it one step further by showing what I’ve done with my home since I bought it in 2003. I apologize for the crappiness of the photos – seeing this poor quality means I’m heading to Best Buy tomorrow to buy a new digital camera and will will replace all my home photos with better ones.
The previous owners, a gay couple, had extraordinary skills in the garden but the interior lacked. You see all their furniture and motel-room art in the 2003 photo. The house had all white walls, and VERY dirty beige wall-to-wall carpeting. The first thing me and my b/f at the time accomplished was our bedroom. We ripped all the carpeting out of the house and replaced with tile. I have a bunch of area rugs, and designed our bedroom around the rug you see in the photo. The king-size sleigh bed was also a purchase for the new house.
I HATED the tacky tiles on the fireplaces, which depicted tee-pees, howling coyotes, and other “symbols” of the southwest (I dislike southwestern design, BTW). So, I had a contractor replaster the fireplaces and add french doors to access the garden and hot tub. Before the doors, one had to walk entirely around the house to get to the tub. Now, there’s nothing better than hot tubbing, showering, and climbing into that bed with a hottie! The french doors make it much more of a private suite.
My favorite customization is the painting over the bed. I took all the left-over house paint for this room and the kitchen (I will share that room later), and spent 10 minutes swabbing a leftover canvas I had with it. It works marvelously in this room!
You cannot see my new LCD TV, which one can see easily while lying in bed.
This room is my sanctuary, and all I need is a cute boy to share it with.
